一 |     Adelaide (Australia), Oct 12 (UNI) An Australian zoo is investigating the sudden deaths of seven female quokkas and two yellow-footed rock-wallabies.
Why the marsupials died remains a mystery but "plant toxicity" is believed to be the most likely cause, an Adelaide Zoo spokeswoman was quoted as saying by the BBC.
The vet team is confident it was an isolated incident but further investigation was under way, she said.
No animals from other exhibits have shown signs of being unwell since the deaths, which happened last month.
"The loss of one animal, let alone a large group in a sudden incident such as this, is extremely upsetting, particularly for those who care for them," the spokeswoman said.
An 11-month-old quokka joey survived and is recovering in the zoo's health centre. The remaining three male quokkas have been taken off the exhibit, the BBC reported.
Other yellow-footed rock-wallabies and kangaroos were "noticeably flat" after the incident but have now recovered fully, the zoo said.
Pathology and toxicology reports have so far been inconclusive, but the zoo is carrying out more tests to discover what caused the animals to become sick.
The zoo breeds both native marsupials species, which are listed as vulnerable in the wild, the report said.
Often dubbed "the world's happiest animal", quokkas are darlings of tourist photos on social media.
But less than 15,000 remain in the wild, most on Western Australia's Rottnest Island.
UNI MR。    संवाद सहयोगी, मनीगाछी/तारडीह (दरभंगा)। सकतपुर थाना क्षेत्र के सोनपुर टोला के प्राथमिक विद्यालय मधपुर, वार्ड संख्या छह के निर्वतमान एचएम एवं मनीगाछी बीएलओ राजेश कुमार ठाकुर को गुरुवार की शाम करीब पांच बजे अज्ञात अपराधियों ने गोली मार दी। गंभीर हालत में उन्हें पंडौल के एक निजी अस्पताल में ले जाया गया, जहां से चिकित्सकों ने डीएमसीएच रेफर कर दिया। डीएमसीएच लाने के दौरान रास्ते में उनकी मौत हो गई। जानकारी के अनुसार, घटना के वक्त वे बाइक से विद्यालय से उजान चौक की ओर जा रहे थे।,गंगौली कनकपुर वार्ड छह के पास चन्ना झा पोखर दलित कालोनी के समीप सामने से आ रही एक बाइक पर सवार तीन अपराधियों में से बीच में बैठे बदमाश ने उन्हें गोली मार दी। ग्रामीणों ने बताया कि गोली लगने के बाद लगभग दो सौ मीटर की दूरी मोटरसाइकिल से चला कर उजान घनश्यामपुर पीडब्ल्यूडी सड़क के उजान पहुंचे।,सड़क पर गिरने के उपरांत स्थानीय लोगों की मदद से पंडौल के एक निजी अस्पताल में उन्हें भर्ती कराया गया, जहां से कुछ देर बाद डीएमसीएच रेफर कर दिया गया, लेकिन रास्ते में उन्होंने दम तोड़ दिया। गोली उनके पेट के दाहिनी ओर लगी।,घटना की सूचना मिलते ही सकतपुर थानाध्यक्ष अरविंद कुमार ने अस्पताल पहुंचकर उनका हालचाल लिया। थानाध्यक्ष ने बताया कि घटना के कारणों का अब तक पता नहीं चल सका है। तफ्तीश जारी है। राजेश कुमार ठाकुर मधुबनी जिला के फुलपरास थाना के सुगापट्टी गांव के निवासी हैं। फिलहाल उनका स्थानांतरण घोघरडीहा प्रखंड में हो गया था लेकिन बीएलओ कार्य की वजह से सुगापट्टी से विद्यालय आना-जाना कर रहे थे और अपने नव-पदस्थापित विद्यालय के लिए विरमित नहीं हो सके थे।,बीडीओ डीएल यादव व बीपीआरओ सह बीईओ अशोक कुमार ने भी घटना की पुष्टि करते हुए बताया कि कारण नहीं मालूम हो सका है। राजेश ठाकुर अविवाहित थे। चार भाइयों में सबसे बड़े थे। बीपीएससी से टीआरई-वन में शिक्षक बने थे।,पिता नीलांबर ठाकुर गांव घर में बढ़ई मिस्त्री का कार्य करते हैं। बेनीपुर एसडीपीओ आशुतोष कुमार ने रात में घटनास्थल का जायजा लिया। बताया कि अपराधियों की पहचान के लिए छानबीन की जा रही है। घटना के कारण की पड़ताल की जा रही है।。
